Melissa Gregg, PhD

Melissa Gregg is an author, ethnographer and consultant on sustainability strategy based in the US and Australia. She provides guidance on carbon emissions reduction and circular economy initiatives with a focus on employee and end user experience (UX). In 2023-4, she is Senior Industry Fellow at the Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society at RMIT University.

A technologist and research leader, Melissa established the User Experience domain driving architecture roadmaps in the Client Computing Group at Intel, and the experience strategy that launched Intel EVO laptops. As Senior Principal Engineer, she secured executive support and built the first product team addressing Intel’s scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions.

With books including The Affect Theory Reader, Work’s Intimacy, and Counterproductive: Time Management in the Knowledge Economy, Melissa’s writing has influenced generations of scholars in the humanities, social sciences and beyond. She welcomes invitations to write, speak and consult on any of these topics.
